The Most Photographed Lighthouse

Nubble Lighthouse Maine

I keep meaning to post this. About a month ago I took my first trip to Nubble Lighthouse. Yes, I realize that seems odd that it was my first time there. It seems odd, even to me, that for all the time that I’ve lived in New England and for all the summers I spent going to York, Maine, that I had never been to Nubble Lighthouse until recently. Sure, I’ve seen plenty of pictures of it, it is, after all, the most photographed lighthouse.

But it was random. After a day at the zoo, Andy decided we were going on a mini road trip. We got lost for a bit and he wouldn’t tell me where we were going. And despite all my frustration of getting turned around about five times, I was super excited when we finally pulled up to the lighthouse, although I quickly realized how little parking they have there.

I completely suggest going mid-week, during the day, when no one is around. Only one-and-a-half laps around the mini lot and we found a spot, walked up to the grassy knoll, and Andy pulled out some cameras – digital and film (of course). That’s me taking a photo of the lighthouse, although you really can’t tell from that angle that I even have a camera in my hands.

We even ran into a man who was spearfishing. Very cool, and his fish was huge! (Well, in my opinion anyway.)

Coupon Cornered | Baby Shower Deal

Coupon2

Why am I buying pacifiers when I don’t have a kid? Because they paid me to buy it! Yup, you heard that right. I made a dollar today by buying a pacifier, all because it was Easter themed. I have enough friends with kids, so it’s not like it’s going to go to waste. Not to mention that it saved me on soap for washing dishes. I ended up saving almost $8 today by using coupons. If I could spend all day doing this I’d have one of those stocked up houses that I paid only $20 for everything.

But seriously, if you have a baby shower to go to or don’t care that your kid’s pacifiers are pastel or have bunnies on them, then you have to do this. It’s like having an extra $1 coupon for anything you want in the store!

These weren’t even marked, so do a double take through the regular pacifier section. I don’t even think the employees knew they were supposed to be marked down. They were just sitting there and if I had more coupons from NUK, I totally would have bought them all! There had to be at least eight packages just sitting there.

Coupon Cornered

How
Buy the 2-pack NUK pacifiers, Easter themed for $.49
Print and use the $1.50 off 1 NUK product
Final price: $1 money maker, which I used toward two on sale Palmolive soaps (They were reduced to replace another soap that was out-of-stock.)
With a $1 off coupon from Sunday’s paper for the Palmolive, the total came to $1.97!! Less than a dollar for each bottle of soap. Winner winner!

Tutus For All

20130113-130955.jpg

So I’ll admit this post is a bit delayed. It kinda got shoved under the bed and lost for a while. I found the pictures the other day and realized I didn’t post anything on my witch costume from Halloween. Lucky for you, you can use this blog post all year round. Change colors to make a ballerina tutu for your little girl or just if you want a tutu for romping around the house on a Saturday (I don’t judge).

Anyway, you’ll need a ribbon that is long enough to go around your waist and then have extra ribbon to tie it into a bow. Make a knot on each end of the ribbon where it meets when you put it around your waist. That way you’ll know where to put the tulle.

Once that’s done, roll your tulle up (the way they do it when you get it from the fabric store). so that it’s rolled up. Cut 2-inch strips and then unroll them. This will save you a ton of time.

Decide how long you want your tutu to be by measuring from your waist to where you want it to fall. Cut a strip of fabric a little more than double that length. Do the same with all other strips. You’ll then begin tying the strips to the ribbon, making the knot fall in the middle of your strip (so now when it’s tied on, it’s the length you wanted. The more strips you add, the fluffier it will get. I used a total of about 5 to 6 yards of tulle.

Just tie it on and you’re all set.
